The following are four unusual travel tips that can make your trip more adventurous:

1. Get purposefully lost - The best way to know and enjoy a new place is to wander aimlessly through the streets, get away from the tourist crowds, off the beaten path. Walk without using Google Maps. You will be amazed at the hidden gems you might discover.

2. Use duct tape to avoid theft - Traveling with expensive electronics or camera equipment? Throw some duct tape on them. If your tools or equipment looks broken, nobody will have the urge to steal them.

3. Visit places during lunchtime - It's best to visit popular attractions and sites over the lunch hour. Most people will be heading for lunch. You might even the place to yourself.

4. Get a seat at the back of a plane - If you are flying, check in your bag, book a seat in the back, and board last. Checking your travel bag means you avoid having to haul into the overhead compartment and risk an injury. A seat towards the back means you can board among the last group and get off faster. By the time you reach the baggage lounge, your bag is already spinning on the carousel.
